The book

A management memoir about the person behind the role.

This is not a book about management theory. It is a humane account of leading people, carrying responsibility, making mistakes, rebuilding trust and learning what actually works over the long run.

Written for managers, project and delivery leaders, transformation practitioners, founders and professionals learning to lead before formal authority arrives.

Inside the book

The difficult moments behind credible leadership.

  • When an estimate quietly becomes a promise.
  • When authority exists, but trust does not.
  • When experience becomes certainty and stops learning.
  • When standards are mistaken for bureaucracy.
  • When relationships are treated as separate from delivery.
  • When difficult news arrives too late to act on it.
“Writing a book is an act of both discipline and generosity, distilling years of experience so others can learn, reflect, and grow.”
Venkateswar GopisettySVP, Oracle and Microsoft Business Applications, Global Digital Business Solutions, HCLTechFormer Professor, IBS Hyderabad

A note from Rohit

Why I wrote this book.

I did not set out to write a management handbook. I wanted to preserve the lessons that arrived more quietly. They came through mistakes I would not repeat, conversations I still remember, and people who trusted me before I had fully learned how to carry that trust.

Over time, I realised those lessons might help someone facing their own difficult day as a manager. This book is my attempt to pass them on honestly, without pretending that leadership ever becomes easy.
